Specifications

The system is equipped with the option of classifying radiation sources into three threat levels. At the same time, the probability of an erroneous operation is extremely small - only 0.1%.

The device can distinguish between types of metals, producing unique audio signals for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Information about found objects is displayed on screens located on the cross beam and side panels of the installation.

The advantage of the system is the highly accurate determination of the location of detected objects. This allows for quick inspection and identification of potentially dangerous objects.

Functionality

The device can detect a wide range of hazardous compounds in the air. Detection of handicraft and industrial explosive components has been implemented - from basic initiating compounds to powerful blasting compounds. The list of substances to be determined includes: saltpeter, nitroglycerin, hexogen, TNT and other popular explosives.

The device also performs a chemical analysis of the air for the presence of narcotic substances and toxic agents. Each operating mode (search for explosives, drugs or hazardous chemicals) can be activated separately from other functions.

General device:

Structurally, the Complex is a stationary arch-type installation that includes devices for 3 different types of detection:

  • to detect metal objects, a metal detector with a full control zone is used (hereinafter referred to as the metal detector);
  • To detect radioactive substances, a special device is used - a pedestrian radiation monitor of category IV Pγ for gamma radiation (hereinafter referred to as the radiation monitor);
  • To recognize traces of chemical substances on human hands, the Complex uses a built-in automatic detector for recognizing traces of chemical substances (hereinafter referred to as the chemical substance detector).

For indication and control, a touch LCD display (control display) is built into the front panel of the control unit.

For indication, “traffic light” indicators are built into the side panels.

To count the number of visitors passing through the Complex, it has a passage counter.

To securely fix the Complex, special fastenings of its panels to the floor are used.

To supply power to the Complex, it has three identical standard connectors in different places that duplicate each other: on the cover of the control unit and at the bottom of the outer sides of each panel. This is done for the convenience of installing the Complex - whichever connector is closest to the power source in a particular place of operation, through which you can connect the power. To select one of the 3 connections, you need to connect the power cable inside the control unit to the corresponding power line, either going to one of the side panels, or to the connector in the top cover of the control unit.

Metal detector:

The metal detector components are mounted in the control unit and side panels of the Complex.

When a metal object of a certain volume moves in the detection zone (according to GOST R 53705-2009), the Complex issues light and sound signals, fixing with indicators on the front ends of the side panels and displaying the exact location of the object on the control display. The control zone is divided into 18 independent sections (3×6) - detection zones, which are displayed on the display screen. To work in various fields of application, the Complex implements 20 programs for the selective detection of metal objects.

Radiation Monitor:

The components of the radiation monitor are mounted in the control unit and side panels of the Complex. The radiation monitor detects pulses caused by gamma rays and x-rays.

Radiation monitor category according to GOST R 51635-2000 – IVПγ. The radiation monitor detects radioactive substances and standard samples of nuclear materials as they move through the controlled space of the Complex with a detection probability of no less than 0.5 with a confidence probability of 0.95. In accordance with Appendix B of GOST R 51635-2000, the activity values ​​of sources are normalized with an error of ±30%.

Detection thresholds are standardized:

  • at a natural gamma background level of no more than 0.22 μSv/h, a natural neutron radiation background level of no more than 100 neutron/(cm2);
  • with a false alarm rate of no more than 0.001.

(Note - The maximum permissible gamma radiation background, at which the monitor remains operational, is 2 μSv/h. With a background above 0.22 μSv/h, the detection thresholds increase.)

The sensitivity of a radiation monitor to radiation from a radionuclide placed in a fixed position on the monitor is:

  • to gamma radiation of barium-133 radionuclide – not less than 90 (imp./s)/kBq;
  • to gamma radiation of the radionuclide cobalt-60 - not less than 110 (imp./s)/kBq.

The frequency of false alarms is no more than 1/1000. The change in the efficiency of registration of gamma radiation by a radiation monitor at the far boundary of the controlled space in width and in the height range is no more than ±50%.

When detecting radioactive substances with radiation above the set detection threshold in the controlled area, the radiation monitor issues a light signal and sound alarm indication, fixing the indicator on the front ends of the side panels with indicators and displaying the corresponding zone of the location of the source of ionizing radiation indicator on the control display.

HV detector:

The CW detector is built into the end of the middle part of the left panel of the Complex.

The operation of the XV detector consists of the following stages:

  • after a person’s finger presses the button of the sampling device (SSD), the trace left by the finger is evaporated by means of pulsed resistive heating;
  • analysis of chemical substances obtained in ambient air vapors using ion mobility spectrometry;
  • making a decision about the presence of traces (microparticles) of chemical substances in the resulting gas phase;
  • generating an alarm and information notification, if there are traces of chemical contamination, and transmitting it to the operator of the Complex and/or to the access control and management system of the facility where the Complex is operated.

To analyze chemicals and compounds in the chemical detector, the method of ion mobility spectrometry is used.

The CW detector detects the presence and identifies the following types of CW:

  • 2, 4, 6-trinitrotoluene (TNT);
  • cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (RDX);
  • cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine (octogen);
  • pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN);
  • Ammonium nitrate.

The detection limit of the chemical waste detector at temperatures from +5°С to +40°С and relative humidity from 20 to 80%, when applying a substance from a human finger to the chemical protection device of the chemical waste detector, is:

  • according to TNT no more than 5•10-8 g;
  • for hexogen no more than 10-7 g;
  • for HMX no more than 10-5 g;
  • according to TEN no more than 10-7 g;
  • for ammonium nitrate no more than 10-5 g.

 

The average time of one analysis procedure is no more than 5 seconds. The time to establish the operating mode of the chemical waste detector is no more than 30 minutes after turning on the Complex.

The time for cleaning or replacing the control surface of the sampling device if a large amount of chemicals gets on it is no more than 1 minute.

In Figures 1 and 2, the numbers indicate the display elements of the touch control display, a description of which is given below.

1– Illustrates the observation area under the arch, which is divided into 18 independent zones (3 x 6). When metal is registered in any of these zones, the square corresponding to the zone is displayed in this area of ​​the display. Several large metal objects illuminate several squares at the same time.

Built-in metal detector programs:

The system must be adjusted to meet specific inspection requirements. The determination of these requirements, in accordance with which the work of the Complex is adjusted, belongs to the end user.
