Portal monitor YANTAR-ZH
Stationary system for detecting fissile and radioactive materials in railway transport.
Purpose
Automatic detection of gamma and neutron radiation sources moving through the control zone at railway checkpoints.
Radiation portal monitors are equipped with gamma and neutron registration channels and are installed along the railway track.
High sensitivity, reliability, ease of use and maintenance make it possible to successfully operate radiation monitors of the Yantar-Zh series at railway checkpoints of various purposes, configurations and capacities in a variety of climatic conditions.
Design
Radiation portal monitors of the Yantar-Zh series are made in the form of metal racks installed along the railway track. Electronics units, gamma and neutron detectors are located inside the racks. Radiation monitors are equipped with audible alarms.
The use of lead screens for gamma detectors makes it possible to increase the efficiency of detecting gamma radiation sources.
Presence sensors ensure reliable detection of an object in the control area even in difficult weather conditions.
The design of racks, detectors and electronics units ensures their protection from aggressive environmental influences, and the possibility of installing additional anti-vandal protection allows you to avoid mechanical damage to the equipment.
Radiation monitors provide data transfer to a control panel or to a computer with specialized software installed.
For higher speed conditions, non-standard solutions can be used, including increasing the number of racks. The selection of a specific model of the Yantar-Zh radiation monitor, as well as the approval of non-standard solutions, is carried out taking into account the characteristics of installation sites and the requirements for minimum detectable quantities of radioactive and nuclear materials.
The values in the “Characteristics” section are given for a two-post radiation monitor with gamma and neutron detectors “Yantar-1Zh”.
